What we know about you
Very little. There are no accounts and no advertising, and the site is static files. The one thing that counts visits, Google Analytics, only starts if you say yes to it.
Analytics run only if you choose “Allow analytics” in the box that appears on your first visit. Until then nothing is stored in your browser for them and nothing is sent to Google Analytics. Google Tag Manager, the script that holds them, still loads on every page, so Google sees that request as it does the fonts. If you say yes, Google Analytics sets cookies to tell one visit from another and counts which pages are read. We use that only to see which pages help, never for advertising. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, and you can change it any time: .
If you email us, we keep your message and email address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and we never publish your contact details without asking.
If you use a form, the same goes. What you send is emailed to us and filed in the private GitHub repository the site is built from, which only the people who run the site can see. Your email address is used only to reply about what you sent. The form’s spam check is Cloudflare Turnstile, which sees your browser and connection while it runs.
If you install the app, the install-prompt counters (visits, declines) live in your browser’s local storage and never leave your device.
Server logs record each request’s page, browser type, referring page and country, never your IP address, so we can see how people and AI crawlers use the site.
Maps are loaded from OpenFreeMap when you scroll to them; their servers see the tile requests, as with any map. Fonts load from Google Fonts.
If any of this changes (a newsletter provider, say), this page changes first, and it will stay this readable. Questions: hello@prestwichvillage.com.
